Robert "Bobby" E. Long, Sr.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert E. "Bobby" Long Sr., age 49, who passed away on May 11, 2026.

 

Bobby was known by family and friends as an exceptional master mechanic and a true handyman who could fix nearly anything. Whether repairing Bobcat equipment, vehicles, helping with a home project, or lending a helping hand to someone in need, Bobby gave generously of his time and talents. He will be remembered for his hardworking nature, remarkable abilities, kind heart, and giving spirit. Bobby was always performing good deeds for others, often putting the needs of family, friends, and neighbors before his own. His presence, humor, generosity, and willingness to help others touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed.

 

Above all, Bobby loved the Lord and carried his faith with him throughout his life. His caring heart, compassion for others, and willingness to help anyone in need reflected the strength of his faith and the kindness he shared with those around him.

 

Bobby is survived by his mother, Betty Long, and his father, the late James Long; his sister, Brenda Bard, and her husband, Lowell; his two sons, Robert "Bob" Long Jr. and Brandon Long; grandson, Grayson James Long, and his longtime partner, Randi Vandegrift; two daughters, Alyssa Vandegrift and Paige Vandegrift; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

Celebration of Life services will be held on June 7, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Ritchie Chapel, 14304 Castle Drive, Fort Ritchie, Maryland.

 

Bobby's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who truly knew and loved him, and his family takes comfort in knowing he is now at peace with the Lord.
