James "JD" Deets Asbury

James Deets “JD” Asbury, of Dickerson, Maryland, passed away on November 1, 2025, at the age of 55.

 

JD is survived by his loving mother, Janet Sier; his brothers William “Billy” Asbury (Robin) and Brian Purdum; his children Scott (Kelly), Christopher(Amanda), Amber, and Janet; his grandchildren; his niece Brooke, nephew Brandon, and many other beloved family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father William Purdum, nephew Michael “Mikey” Asbury, and Aunt Sandy Broach

 

JD could always be found tinkering under the hood of a vehicle, working on the farm, or spending time near the water. Some of his happiest days were spent crabbing and cooking up his catches at the farm, surrounded by those he loved. Though JD was known for his stubborn streak, he had a heart of pure gold. His humor, kindness, and hardworking spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him especially his best four legged friend walker. 

 

A celebration of JD’s life will be held on November 16, 2025, at the Urbana Fire Hall, where family and friends are invited to share memories and honor his life.
